We have found that day three of a long challenge is the hard one, today was spot on. It greeted us with what has been the norm every morning, squalls of light rain that drifted through every half an hour. The air was icy cold with a chill that seemed to eat right into your ribs. Head down and off we drifted (more like hobbled) I was low on energy with a bit of a stomach bug, but Andy was full of his normal jokes, this kept me going. By the time we reached the top, I was up a few notches and feeling good. The solitude, quietness and beauty running along the top is enough to snap you out of any hole you are in. Today was special with an extra chorus of table mountain ghost frogs in the mist and as it cleared the bird were serenading us as we cut across the top towards Llandudno ravine.
The niggles are there and a few old injuries have surfaced, we will work through these and push on, 3 days done and over 100km. this is nothing compared to the difference we can all make through this event. Join in and support Miles for Smiles www. Ciplafoundationsa.co.za

I awoke to the patter of constant rain on the roof; I knew it was going to be a challenge today. I just wanted to roll over and pretend it was all a dream as I was forced to drag myself out of bed with the alarm clock frantically jumping around in frenzy. Limping over it I gave it a swot, “take that “I thought. A quick cup of coffee and I was off to the mountain to meet up with Andy.
The mist was hanging all over the mountain like beard moss in a dense jungle, distorted shapes jumped and twisted as the clouds parted with the sun trying to force its way through. There was not much chit-chat, it was a high and off we went. It was not too long and we slowed with a unanimous, “I can feel that I did something yesterday”. That set the tone for the day; it was a hard cold slog with moments of energy and such highs as we floated along the path, only to suddenly hit a low spot and grind down to a walk.
Our minds were constantly taken off the grind as the ever-changing landscape around us rewarded us with breath taking beauty. Plodding along the path towards Orange Kloof Then I heard Andy “I sense a mood , how right he was, I was flat, blown, stuffed , not even able to lift my feet over the rocks. Moaning and cursing on I plodded waiting for the next period of recovery. It finally came and on we went with new determination as we rounded the Block House and we could see the city below. We knew it would soon be Job done Day 2
